Lost Income Needs Proof
Business interruption coverage can pay for lost income and ongoing expenses when a covered loss forces a business to close or slow down. For homeowners, similar coverage may pay for lost rent on a rental property or extra costs to keep a home business running.
These claims depend on numbers: past income, ongoing expenses and how long the repair should take. Northside Adjusters documents the property damage and works with your records to present the income claim. For larger businesses, see our commercial claims page.
Most business interruption coverage requires a covered physical loss and starts after a waiting period. We review those terms with you.

First Steps
- Document the property damage with photos and video.
- Gather tax returns, profit and loss statements and leases.
- Track extra expenses to keep operating or to move temporarily.
- Report the claim, then call us for a free review.

Business Interruption Claim Questions
What is business interruption insurance?
It pays for lost income and some ongoing expenses when a covered physical loss forces a business to close or reduce operations, within the policy limits.
Does homeowners insurance cover a home business?
Usually only in a limited way. Many homeowners policies have low limits for business property and no business income coverage. A separate policy or endorsement may be needed.
Can I claim lost rent on a rental home?
Many landlord (dwelling) policies include fair rental value or loss of rent coverage. We check your policy.
What records do I need?
Tax returns, profit and loss statements, sales records, leases, payroll and receipts for extra expenses.
Does it cover a power outage?
It depends. Many policies require physical damage to your property, and coverage for off-site power loss is often limited. We review the terms.
What does it cost to hire you?
The review is free. Our fee is a percentage of the settlement, capped by Florida law. No recovery, no fee.
General information only, not legal advice. Your policy and Florida law govern your claim. Florida law and your policy set deadlines for claims and supplemental claims (section 627.70132). More answers on our FAQ page.
